Book Review

Winter Road

I just finished Winter Road by Andy Frecka and I loved it!  I laughed so much that I cried!

When I first met Andy he was preparing to navigate a different sort of road, it was a road across Lake Baikal in Siberia. He and a few of my friends had signed up for this Marathon and Andy’s reason for doing it (other than being talked into it by another amazing person, Andrew Grenfell) was to raise funds. Andy is a missionary who has lived in Russia for many years now with his wife and young family. This book is hilarious and gives a wonderful insight into life in Russia and just what it is like to navigate the roads, and for that matter, use transport in general. I read this book at the same time that my husband was in Siberia getting stuck in the mud while traversing summer muddy roads in a Russian 4X4 and this book somehow made me feel closer to him. Andy’s sense of humour and zest for life is one that I have come to appreciate and value. What a wonderful way to look at life. Last time I checked on Amazon, there were only a few copies left!

This is what I said in my review on Amazon:

His ability to bring out the funny side in life is undeniably what makes this book a page turner.” – Melony Teague
