Book Review

Recruits by Thomas Locke

It’s a world they’ve seen only in their dreams—until now.

MY REVIEW

Recruits is a fast paced YA Sci-Fi story that had me wishing I could speed read. The fact that the main characters are twins intrigued me, not to mention that colourful cover. The twins, Sean and Dillon Kirrel, are young men, (which is nice for a change), and quickly their seemingly ordinary lives are turned upside-down when their get a mysterious new neighbour arrives.

Along with the coming of age themes, I really loved the themes of love (that kind of love where you give your life for your friends, kinda love), loyalty, and brotherhood.

There is plenty of action, plot twists as well as good old character development to keep you turning the pages.

I highly recommend this book for your teens, particularly for the boys. My thirteen-year-old loved it, and so did I. We both are anxiously awaiting the next book, Renegades.
