Traces of Guilt (released May 3, 2016) is the first Dee Henderson book I have read in a while. She is a favourite of mine and this book did not disappoint. I loved the O’Malley series and the cover of this one caught my eye. Also the fact that it is an “Evie Blackwell Cold Case” may have had something to do with it.  There is something about solving past mysteries that appeals to me, and it is somewhat different to when a case is being investigated right after the crime when a criminal is on the loose.

This contemporary detective story is set in Carin County. Ann Falcon comes into town and gets the ball rolling with the news that Evie Blackwell, Illinois State Police Detective is going to be working some cold cases, resulting in a whole lot of upset for the Thane family. I loved getting to know the Thane family” Marie (mother) and Caleb (father) and the three boys, Will, Gabriel and Josh. Gabriel is the sheriff and works closely with Evie.

The family dynamics are challenged in this story. They must face some shocking and sad truths before they can all move on. Can Evie help solve all the mysteries in Carin county without leaving a part of herself behind?

I checked this book out from my local library and enjoyed it so much, I thought I would share my thoughts.
