Catherine West is an award-winning author who writes stories of hope and healing from her island home in Bermuda.
A tragedy from the past resurfaces in this tale of family secrets and reignited love. – The Things We Knew
Lynette Carlisle wakes up with nightmares, it is as if her past is calling to her, but she can’t remember it all. She is the youngest of five, and has been left with the burden of supporting and caring for her father. Circumstances bring the family back together again. As the story unfolds secrets are revealed and memories, long buried, are retrieved as Lynette comes to terms with losing her mother, an event she cannot recall as her father seems to be slipping further and further away from her because of his illness.
Enter the handsome neighbor, also a childhood friend, who is also struggling with issues related to his own father. Then the sparks fly.
Let me just say that I really wish Gray (Lynette’s misfit brother) gets to have his own book! (Hop over here to see what Catherine envisions Gray looking like and see if you agree)

What I love about Cathy’s writing is that she unpacks the storyline in such a way that the book is like a scavenger hunt, where you get little clues along the way, but not too much information—just enough. There are moments when you laugh out loud, and other times you shed a tear and reach of the Kleenex. This book kept me engaged and rooting for Lynette all the way through. I hope you love it as much as I did.

In The Things We Knew, we get to know these characters and their families and their struggles. Although life is messy sometimes, there is always hope and forgiveness and I love that underlying theme in this book.
