Line By Line by Jennifer Delamere
This is not the first time I’ve read Jennifer Delamere’s books, so when I saw this beauty, I was keen to read it. Here’s my review:
MY REVIEW
Line by Line is the first in the Love Along The Wires series by Delamere. The story is about Alice McNiel, a telegrapher and her journey to find her own unique and independent way and purpose in life while being thoroughly distracted by Mr. Douglas Shaw. This is a delightful look at the role men and women play in the workplace, this one is set in Victorian England, and with the guidance of a special book found in a bookshop, all sorts of repercussions take place because of the advice offered in those pages. I found Mr. Shaw thoroughly delightful, especially when he is challenged by Mr. Carnegie about his ambition and motives. Line by Line allowed an informative peek into the technology of the day before telephones were all the rage. Who knew how important typewriters would become? I enjoyed that historical aspect of the book very much. Alice and her friends had me entertained late into the night and I thoroughly enjoyed this historical romance.

A seasoned telegrapher, she’s recently acquired a coveted position at an important trading firm, but when the company’s ambitious junior director returns to London, things begin to change in ways Alice could never have imagined.

He and Alice form a friendly relationship based on mutual respect, but anything deeper is not in their plans. However, when Alice accidentally raises the ire of a jealous and vindictive coworker who’s intent on ruining her life, Alice and Douglas are forced to confront what is truly important in their lives.
