The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill by Julie Klassen
I have been a fan of Julie’s books for many years and have loved her stand alone books. I did however recognize that this one is the first in a series and as such it is setting up for a series, which makes it a little different to a stand alone. At first the main character, Jane at first seems a dispassionate sort, and I liked her fiesty mother in law right away, but by the end of the book I felt I understood both of them and I felt the character development in both was spot on. By the end of the book, we understand Thora, and Jane is developed to the point which leaves plenty of room for further growth in the rest of the series.
I am hoping for a return of Gabriel later on in the series and I am most interested in Mr. Drake and what the future books hold for him.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people of Ivy Hall and look forward to more installments from Julie Klassen. The series almost reminds me of Lawana Blackwell books (The Gresham Chronicles)
