This book reviewer girl is in blogger heaven right now! As we kick off the Unraveling Blog Tour, I am beyond excited to welcome Sara Ella today and we talk about the Unblemished Trilogy, and more specifically her latest release Unraveling.

Congratulations on another winner. As I said when I finished Unblemished, I had a book hangover for about a week after reading it. So, now that I have read Unraveling and have had the same experience, possibly worse this time, I have some burning questions for you.

Q: How do you react when you hear that your books have caused severe cases of book hangovers, and what treatment do you recommend?
Sara: First let me say, WOW! Thank you for these unbelievably flattering comments. I am fangirling over your fangirling 😀 Second, when I hear my books have caused book hangovers I smile, then smile wider . . . and then I dance around the room and punch the air! Goal achieved!
As far as treatments, all I can say is a little dose of rereading will do the trick. If you find that does not soothe your ailment as you await the next book, try visiting the Unblemished Pinterest Board, or listening to the Unblemished soundtrack on Spotify. You can also check out the Unraveling Pinterest Board and soundtrack, though I haven’t spent nearly as much time on them, being on deadline and all. 😉

Q: Ok, I am in LOVE with your Pinterest board for this book. When you began writing the Unblemished trilogy, did you have the end in mind? Or did your characters surprise you along the way? If so, please tell us more!
Sara: I always had the ending in mind when I began writing, though I wasn’t fully set on it since I wasn’t sure if things would go that way. I usually have a general outline in my head, but a lot of writing is just seeing where the story takes me. I like the endings of my chapters to shock me as much as they do my readers, and the same goes for story endings. My characters have definitely surprised me, and some have even become leads when they were only meant to be side characters. The great thing about the ending I have planned is, in the beginning, I couldn’t figure out how to make it work. But now with where the story has gone I feel the ending is really the only one that fits. I hope you’ll agree when you read Book III.

Q: Your books are chockfull of action right from page one, seriously hard to put down, and late-into-the-night-reading inducing. As far as Unraveling goes, without giving too much away, which scene was the most challenging to write and why?
Sara: Oh man, what a compliment! Action is a difficult thing for me to write since I much prefer romantic-type scenes. With that being said, those scenes can be even harder to write and I’d say Chapter 23 of Unraveling presented quite the challenge. I knew it was an important scene and that I definitely needed to show some things happening. My problem, though, is in the first draft I usually allow too much to happen between a pair of characters too soon. That’s when I have to go back and rework things and stretch them out. I mean, the first draft of Unblemished had Joshua kissing El before they even crossed the Threshold! Thank goodness for critique partners who aren’t afraid to say, “No, Sara. Just no.” 🙂

Q: This is a question about your writing process, are you “pantser” or a “plotter” or somewhere in between? And, does book III have a title yet? (since I am going to have to attempt to wait a whole year for it without going crazy….)
Sara: Definitely in between, though I’d say I’m like 80% pantster and 20% plotter. If I do too much planning it traps me in a creativity-void box, whereas too much “pantsting” puts me in corners that are hard to get out of. I’d like to balance the two more, but as it stands now I tend to just sit down and write and see where it goes.
And YES, Book III does have a title. I sort of secretly revealed it on Instagram recently to see who might catch it. But here it is . . . drum roll please . . . UNBREAKABLE!!!! I’m super excited because this is the title I wanted and Thomas Nelson went with it. Check out the song Unbreakable by Jamie Scott. It was a huge inspiration to me throughout the writing process.
