About the Seasons series
Goodreads | Amazon
The southern town of Saisons lies at the crossroads between North and South, progressive and genteel antebellum life. Between East and West, between history and heritage, and new frontiers. Downton Abbey meets Gone With the Wind.
It’s 1912, in a world where slavery is dying and women’s rights are rising, and four young women who once shared a bond—and experienced a tragedy—question their own truths.
Today I welcome Robin to chat about her series:
TITLE: THE LONG SHADOWS OF SUMMER
By Robin E. Mason
Welcome to my blog today and we are talking about your historical fiction full of intrigue and mystery.
Hullo Melony, and thank you so much for having me and my girls on your blog today!
Q: This book is part of a series, do you have to have read the other books to get the full impact?
Robin : The full impact, yes. Each book is a stand-alone story, but each book also adds layers (and mystery and questions and intrigue) to the previous ones.
Q: What would you say is the most significant aspect of the relationship shared by Mercedes, Simone, Scarlett and Pearl?
Robin: Their devotion. Everything they do (and man-oh-man, it’s hard not to give spoilers!) is colored by consideration for each other. Mercedes really struggles with [a certain issue] in The Long Shadows of Summer, and is torn between devotion to Simone and devotion to Pearl. Scarlett struggles to be who / what her friends believe her to be, but feels she can’t. (again with the spoiler… ) Pearl makes a decision which she feels is in her friends’ best interest—only to discover how wrong she is.
And Simone is torn between two worlds, and trying to put them back together again, and needs her friends more than ever!
Q: Which Character surprised you the most and why? (Without giving away too much)
Robin: LAAA!!! I’m a pantzer—they all surprised me! Maybe the villain because I.DID.NOT.SEE.THAT.COMING!
Q: Out of the 4 books, which one is your favourite and why?
Robin: Yikes!! Are you trying to get me killed? (by my characters… LOL ) There is part of me in all of my main characters, but for the simple reason of the resolution, I think Whispering Winds is my favourite. It was quite the challenge to answer all the questions that were woven into the first three books (and page after page of notes so I didn’t forget nuttin’!)
Thank you so much for being my guest today.
My pleasure! Always happy to visit with fellow bloggers.

About the Author
I’ve always had voices—er, stories in my head. I once said I should write them all down so someone could write them someday. I had no idea at the time that someone was me!
I have been writing since 1995, and began working in earnest on my debut novel, Tessa in 2013. Meanwhile, I cranked out a few dozen poems, made countless notes for story ideas, and earned my BFA in Interior Design. I lived with depression for many years, and the inherent feelings of worthlessness and invisibility; I didn’t want to be who I was and struggled with my own identity for many years. My characters face many of these same demons.
I write stories of identity conflict. My characters encounter situations that force the question, “Who am I really?” For all who have ever wondered who you are or why you’re here, my stories will touch you in a very real—maybe too real—and a very deep way. I know, I write from experience.
