Book Review

My Dear Miss Dupre by Grace Hitchcock

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I love historical fiction, so I was pleased to give it a try.

MY REVIEW

Set in the Gilded Age, My Dear Miss Dupre is a delightful take on the necessary past time of a wealthy woman in need of a worthy husband. The Bachelorette meets American Royalty in the Victorian era. This is so clever! And very well done.

I thoroughly enjoyed imagining what it would be like to have to find a husband from suitors within the strict social parameters of the day. I found the secret language of flowers so interesting too. This book was just what I needed to keep me entertained and to escape for a day. There were a few laugh-out-loud moments that I really appreciated. I look forward to book #2 in the series.
