Book Review

Count Me In by Mikal Dawn

It is not everyday you get to name a novel, and then you get to read it and as you do you find out that it is even more fitting than you first thought.

This is what happened to Count Me In. Author Mikal Dawn ran a competition to help name the book and I won! So of course, I HAD to read and review it!

This fun Romantic Comedy begins in a coffee shop, so naturally I was hooked.

Allegra is adorable, smart and full of fear, and at first we don’t know what is at the root of this paralyzing fear.  Tyler is a hunky ex-footballer, and adrenaline junkie and pushes his limits, because well, his parents held him back from doing things as a kid. So basically these two are opposites, so sparks fly when their worlds collide.

My favourite line to describe them :

They were oil and water, fire and ice, toothpaste and orange juice

—Count me In, by Mikal Dawn

They are more alike than they know. Some twists and turns in the plot supersized me and I was delighted about how the book ended.

When you find yourself wanting to pray for the characters (yes, I admit it….) and even worry about them,….(yep again) and even dream about them (yes, I confess….again) then I’d say the author has you invested in her characters. I was doing all of the above when it came to Allegra and Tyler, I so wanted them to have their happily ever after.

This is a delightful debut by this author, I look forward to following her career going forward.

Author Interview

Mikal Dawn is an inspirational romance author, wedding enthusiast, and proud military wife. By day, she works as an administrative assistant for an international ministry organization, serves in her church’s library, runs her kids to football, Tae Kwon Do, and figure skating, and drinks lots of coffee. By night, she pulls her hair out, wrestling with characters and muttering under her breath as she attempts to write. And drinks lots of coffee. When she isn’t writing about faith, fun, and forever, she is obsessively scouring Pinterest (with coffee in hand, of course!) for wedding ideas for her characters.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Mikal now lives in Nebraska with her husband, Mark, their three children, and one ferocious feline who can often be found taking over her Instagram account.
