Then Came You by Becky Wade
A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom
This book, Then Came You, by Becky Wade is really so refreshing. I love, love, love the format and point of view of all the different characters written in either journals, letters, postcards or phone messages. Genius!
This novella is a wonderful little read (especially for me right now because I am swamped with deadlines) and it was short and oh! So. Sweet.
Don’t get me wrong, the story is not all fluff and warm fuzzies, these characters go through some serious stuff!
Garner Bradford especially has a lot to deal with, (I can’t say more, because: Spoilers) but his journey for me made this book all the more special. This guy is not perfect, but Oh, what a story. He is a guy that is real, (ok… I know he is a fictitious character, but I mean real as in: believable) and he is in no way unrealistically heroic. Meaning that everything comes up roses and chocolates. Both Garner and Kathleen Burke (his employee) have hard things that they grapple with, whether they are things that happened to them, or mind sets that have trapped them.
The best news is that you can download Then Came You for free in Kindle format here
This novella is a taste (and I suspect back story) of the new Bradford Sisters series soon to be released. Look out for the first book coming soon, True to You (available for pre-order) on Amazon
I downloaded the free novella from Amazon.
ABOUT THE BOOK
A leather-bound journal. A single father. A woman in pursuit of freedom.
Garner Bradford, heir to the troubled Bradford Shipping empire, doesn’t know much about babies. But he’s going to have to learn fast because he’s just become a single father to his newborn daughter. As he confesses through his journal entries, he’s not entirely sure how to keep a newborn alive, whether or not he’ll ever patch together his shattered heart, or how to forgive himself for his mistakes.
Career girl Kathleen Burke is wholly uninterested in settling down. She has big dreams, and none of them include Garner and his small hometown in Washington State. Yet she can’t seem to get her handsome boss out of her head or her heart. There’s something extraordinarily tempting about his beautifully sad green eyes. . . .
Told through journal entries, phone conversations, and letters, Then Came You is a unique, heart-stirring romance novella by acclaimed author Becky Wade
