A Promise to Keep
Having plugged away at my writing since 2010 when I decided to take it seriously, I’m still in a bit of a daze that on Jan 21, 2020, my dream of publishing a novel is a reality!
A Promise to Keep will be in readers’ hands at last.
I’m at a loss for words to explain how this makes me feel. To think that my book is out there in the wild is still so surreal.
The question I was asked a lot during preparation for the book-launch week was, “Why did you write this book?”
That is not an easy or straightforward answer.
I could just say that it was because I’ve always dreamt of writing a novel. But that wouldn’t be the whole truth.
Aside from being an avid reader, as you can tell from the reviews on my website, I wanted to write a book that I would like to read. One that would make people laugh, that would inspire them, a book that would give them a few hours of entertainment and escape. Above all, I wanted the book to be inspiring. To make readers think.
Life is messy and hard, and I wanted this book to reach into the lives of readers and touch them on a level that only books can.
If just one reader is inspired to live their lives to the fullest, without regret, then it has all been worth it.
If you have read, A Promise to Keep, and it has touched you, then I’d love to hear about it.

A Promise. A High School Reunion. And a pact that proves harder to keep.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Research librarian Savannah Sanderson wants nothing more than to escape into her happily-ever-after novels with their larger-than-life fictional heroes. But a promise to her late husband has her attending her dreaded twenty-year high school reunion, drinking ghastly punch, and taking desperate measures just to keep her vow, even if she has to hide behind the décor to do it.
Once a reckless troublemaker, Michael McCann fled town after graduation. Now a professional technical rescuer, he’s back for the reunion, but on his trip down memory lane, he soon comes face to face with unresolved issues, namely Savannah.
Before the night is over, a pact between these two old friends will lead them on an adventure into uncharted emotional territory where Michael must confront his past regrets and find the courage to reveal the truth. But can Savannah fly from her sheltered nest and risk her heart on a real-life hero?
She never imagined that keeping her promise would change everything.
