Thoughtful Thursdays – Everything Changes

Welcome! Today on Thoughtful Thursday I am going to be answering that question that I ask every Thursday:

What has been dominating your thoughts lately?

Change. I have been thinking about change.

This week I went from long hair to short hair. Really short! I have never been one to shy away from drastic hairstyle changes. I am weird that way.

We went from a snowy Friday to a super sunny and warm Sunday. It’s supposed to be spring. I see changes everywhere. The lake is no longer frozen and the ducks, geese and birds are happy.

We are changing from snow boots and winter boots to regular shoes. (Yay!) and my work schedule is about to kick into high gear as I work on some seasonal projects.

Change is something that we can either embrace, or shy away from. Being resistant to change makes the journey harder, and it gets us nowhere because change is part of life. Whether it is a good change, or a bad change, it is bound to happen. Nothing stays the same.

The question is, who is going to be on this journey of constant change with you? I have been thinking a lot about that lately and I have to say that without my Faith, Friends and Family, my journey would look a whole lot different. Who you chose to surround yourself with, impacts your day to day life, perhaps even your choices and sometimes even your attitude. Ever try to remain upbeat with a complainer or pessimist in the room? Not easy is it?

Then I started thinking, am I that complainer? Oh boy! Time to assess my own attitude. Where does change start? Yep…you guessed it. With me. I have read that in marriage books, in motivational business books, in books about philanthropy and kindness ( See Your Next 24 hours)

So what am I thinking now? I am thinking about inner change as opposed to the change I can see around me. Am I feeling challenged? You bet!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

What do you think? I’d love to hear from you.

  1. Beth Erin says:

Good point, Mel! We shouldn’t stop growing until the Lord takes us home. It’s so easy to grow complacent though, I need constant reminders to keep examining my heart and seeking Him.

  2. Change can be a good thing sometimes. I pray I will remember God has a plan for me and that plan might include change. 🙂
