Written by Melba Pattillo Beals and Gerald Jampolsky, this book had quite an impact on me and my perception of just what it was like to be a person of color in America in the 1940’s and 1950’s, particularly in Little Rock, Arkansas and in California, and on leading up to today.
I Will Not Fear is an inspiring book for anyone dealing with fear and wanting to learn some golden nuggets about overcoming it and pressing on in the face of it. This book will leave you with a greater understanding and empathy either way.
Fighting Fear, by Kelly Balarie’s cover appealed to me. Simple and clean. Although I was curious about the book, I did not think I had many fear issues. After all, I am an extroverted, happy go lucky (most of the time) person. I don’t consider myself anxious, unless I have to do a math test. (Those have not happened in years, thankfully!)
I was in for a reality check.
